Inappropriate conflicts.<\/p>\n

I had evidence: text messages, bank statements, unexplained absences, money diverted to an account I didn\u2019t even know existed.<\/p>\n

But my lawyer asked me to remain calm. Everything would be presented in order.<\/p>\n

Even so, the judge\u2019s face remained neutral. That kind of neutrality that makes you feel invisible.<\/p>\n

Then, as soon as Caleb\u2019s lawyer finished, Harper moved.<\/p>\n

She raised her hand. Small. Firm.<\/p>\n

But she stood up anyway. She looked directly at the judge with a seriousness that belied her ten years.<\/p>\n

The courtroom fell silent.<\/p>\n

Caleb abruptly turned his head toward her. For the first time that day, his composure crumbled.<\/p>\n

The judge leaned slightly forward.<\/p>\n

Caleb went pale.<\/p>\n

Harper walked to the front of the courtroom, small in that vast space, and handed over the tablet with both hands, as if offering something sacred.<\/p>\n

When the video started playing on the court screen, my heart pounded so hard it felt like it hurt my ears.

Our kitchen. At night.<\/p>\n

And there was Caleb, looking directly into the camera, smiling in a way I\u2019d never seen before.<\/p>\n

Then his voice filled the courtroom:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you tell your mother about this,\u201d he said calmly, \u201cI\u2019ll make sure you never see her again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The silence that followed was heavy, suffocating.<\/p>\n
