Sources say Queen Camilla didn\u2019t want King Charles to reveal his cancer diagnosis to the public.Charles just\u00a0announced<\/a> that he\u2019ll be scaling back treatment in 2026.His majesty was first diagnosed with cancer in February 2024.King Charles has been extremely transparent and open about his cancer diagnosis, a major change from previous monarchs\u2014including his mother, Queen Elizabeth II\u2014who preferred to keep their health private.
\nBut apparently Queen Camilla was not on board with her husband\u2019s decision to open up about his diagnosis with the public. Per\u00a0The Times<\/a><\/em>, \u201cIt can now be revealed that when the King learnt he had cancer nearly two years ago, his wife initially believed his diagnosis should remain private, as she feared the toll public scrutiny of his health might take on his recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apparently, Camilla felt that \u201conce the door on it had been opened, it could never be closed,\u201d but now she realizes King Charles made the right choice. Per a source, \u201cBoth of them now unequivocally think that being so open has been hugely positive \u2014 positive for public engagement with raising awareness around cancer and also personally for him in terms of how public good has come from personal misfortune.\u201d<\/p>\n

This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years.\u201d<\/p>\n
