You can\u2019t just rewrite everything because you\u2019re upset\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t rewrite anything,\u201d I said.<br \/>\n\u201cI simply waited until you all finished proving it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That shut him up.<\/p>\n<p>The room felt colder now.<\/p>\n<p>Bella wiped her face quickly.<br \/>\n\u201cSo what happens now?\u201d she asked, voice shaking. \u201cYou just\u2026 cut us off? Like we don\u2019t exist?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I leaned back in my chair.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time all night, I wasn\u2019t thinking about anger. Or revenge. Or disappointment.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking about a blue vinyl chair.<br \/>\nAbout silence.<br \/>\nAbout being asked by a nurse if I had family.<\/p>\n<p>And about how easy it was for them to answer that question incorrectly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want revenge,\u201d I said quietly.<\/p>\n<p>That confused them.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond frowned. \u201cThen what is this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at all three of them. One by one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis,\u201d I said, \u201cis correction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael closed the folder completely now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe legal transfer of assets will begin tomorrow morning,\u201d he said. \u201cThe house, accounts, and holdings will be placed under independent trust management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bella stood up abruptly.<br \/>\n\u201cSo what, we\u2019re homeless now?
